I Turn 26 Today, So I Reflect

Life is generous, yet so harsh at times. During hard times I pray for myself and others that we understand and try to learn from the things that we consider difficult to go through. During times of joy and peace, I thank God for all he has done to get me to where I am and to keep focus on Him.

I reflect on the previous year and the past twenty-six years that have gotten me to where I am today. I wouldn't change any experience and I have no regrets. If I changed anything then I wouldn't be in this moment right now.

Major events:
- Keith and I decided to move to Houston because we were not happy where we were. The opportunity in this area proved to be very beneficial as far as our career's go. Although I refused to move again as I have every year since high school, God has a funny way of showing that I do not make the plans for our life. It is all for advancing our careers and I do not doubt it is the right decision for us.
-I added a specialty to my career and I enjoy it very much. I have learned a ton over this past year and plan to continue that path of expanding my knowledge as a nurse.
-I began a budget with savings included. I have a lot to learn, but it is a start.
-I have accomplished my goal of gaining weight and will be competing in my first NPC show this October. I feel better than I ever have health wise. My body also isn't complaining.
-I have learned a lot about my mental health. I have resources and outlets galore that have encouraged my journey. I also have been more open about it which has led to others coming to me for advice or just to share that I'm not alone. This, in itself, has helped me grow stronger in this area of my well-being.

Today, I spent the day with my mother. She took me to the Museum District where we visited the Museum of Natural Science. We had a nice lunch in Rice Village at Benjy's. Then we walked around and did some shopping. It was a pleasant day and I'm very thankful to have such a loving mother who would drop her plans to spend the whole day with me. I love you, Mom. My husband unfortunately had to work today, but he walked me into Academy this weekend and bought all kinds of goodies :) and surprised me with flowers and a card today. I'm so thankful for another year with him. I love you, Sweetie.

So, now for the next year. That is a whole other post.
Good night for now.

Until next time,
Just a Girl
