Let's jump right into it... Goal #1 - Launching my podcast Little did I know the extensive work that goes into this when it is just one person. Sometimes I wish I had three of me to do everything I need to do on a regular basis. One of me would have to work 24 hours a day for at least 3 days to get one podcast perfect and even then I would probably judge every aspect of it and want to throw it out and start over. Knowing all the work I put into 10 minutes of recording keeps me from doing it though. Hopefully it gets easier, but even a monthly release is unrealistic at this time. I'm just glad I got it started and I learned every step of the way. It will get easier with time. Which is where this quote fits in... Goal #2 - Create my own digital files and sell them. While brainstorming and researching ways to create useful digital files for people to download. I came across a pretty big following that utilize dot journals to customize their everyday planners. Those that know me, know that I can't remember anything unless I write it down. I have multiple planners for every aspect of my life. I have a planner for my monthly bill tracking, a planner for my daily tasks, a binder for cleaning, moving, etc. I have utilized websites such as MayDesigns.com and ScatteredSquirrel.com to create and personalize planners, but I have never been able to consolidate my multiple planners into one like I have with my Bullet Journal. I have been trialing different templates over the past month and have fallen in love with it. My goal is to utilize my favorite templates and turn them into digital downloads, so that you can create a binder planner. Also, it will make it easier for those that aren't very artistic (which I don't consider myself all that artistic). Or just do not have the time to spend on creating the templates. Stay tuned!! In the mean time, check out my new Instagram bujo_Lauren that showcases my favorite templates that I have found through Pinterest or other blogs. Goal #3 - Gain a certification for RN license.
I decided against the TNCC certification for a number of reasons, but in turn have gained experience for my resume. Many things have happened over the last 7 months. My husband has gotten a new job in the medical industry in a different area of town. We will be moving yet again, just call us modern day gypsies. I'm actually excited about this move. Also, two new hospitals have opened in the area causing an exodus of experienced nurses from our hospital. However, it has given me the opportunity to gain experience in a charge nurse/supervisory role. It is a challenge and requires many hours of hard work, but the experience is undeniable and is something valuable to add to my resume. That being said, I believe that checks this goal off my list. Goal #4 - Read one book every month... This is a goal I consider most challenging and I have not accomplished one month of this goal. That is what goals are for though and I can make every excuse in the book as to why I haven't read. I will not though, I will just move on and realize that all those hours spent watching The Vampire Diaries, New Girl, and other movies on Netflix could have been replaced by reading a book LOL. Moving on... Goal #5 - Take a class. Another goal I can check off the list. It wasn't anything special, but it was a class I had to enroll in. I was having trouble learning about Libsyn and publishing my podcast. They had a free one day, online course that basically was a long tutorial on how to utilize the website to the fullest. It was very informational and after I took the class, I was finally able to publish my first podcast which can be listened to in the previous blog post from June. In conclusion, I think that I have made progress towards all my goals, excluding the books. I'm super excited for the end of the year and the move and possibly a new job. One of my closest friends is getting married and I have a bachelorette party to throw in less than a month. Also, I want to help another close friend plan and throw a party for our 10 year high school reunion. Lots to do, so little time, but so much fun!! Until next time!
